I believe I was destined for this work.
Growing up, I had a lot of digestive issues and especially constipation. I felt sluggish and moody a lot of the time. I started exploring how my diet affected my gut and well-being at the tender age of 16. I remember feeling frustrated one day at how bloated I felt most of the time, and I made a conscious decision to start eating better and get into physical movement. I intuitively felt there was a connection there.
I started exercising regularly (and even got certified and taught fitness classes professionally for a time), and started reading as much as I could on alternative healing and eating. I embraced a mostly plant-based diet and started practicing yoga. I grew up in Vancouver, B.C., a city known for its holistic and eco-conscious lifestyle, so I had access to excellent resources. I started feeling better, had more energy, and most of all - was happier!
I then started exploring colon cleansing, along with fasting, at the age of 21, and started doing colon hydrotherapy. I felt very empowered, and this has created a lasting impact on my life.
Fast forward several years - I traveled and lived in India for nearly three years, and spent that time exploring my inner world. I had strayed from the healthy lifestyle, and I could feel it in my body.
Upon my return to North America, I knew I had to get my gut back in order and cleanse my colon.
I was teaching Yoga at the time, and a wonderful student told me about her Gravity Colonic therapist .
It was the most life-changing Gravity Colonic I had ever had!
Afterwards, I couldn’t believe how euphoric I felt. I felt light, happy, peaceful, and as if all the pressure had left my gut. My tummy was flatter, my cheeks were rosy, and my joints even felt looser. I was astounded. I had never had a colonic that had felt so liberating on so many levels. There is something about a Gravity Colonic that goes so much deeper than other forms of colon cleansing, in my experience. From that moment on, I was hooked on gravity colonics. I knew I had to make this a regular part of my life forever.
I was certified in the Woods Gravity Method in January of 2008, and was ready to share my passion for this work with the world. Within a month of completing my training I opened my own practice in colon cleansing.
Around the same time, I knew I wanted to learn a lot more, and was very fortunate to start mentoring with Senior Colonic Therapist Michael Perrine of Vitality New York City, and studied and learned from him for two years. He was taught by the renowned Gil Jacobs, the "Godfather" of Gravity Colonics. Gil is SO renowned that you can find mention of him all over the internet, yet he has never had his own website! Both Natalia Rose and Kimberly Snyder were avid students of his nutritional and detoxification knowledge.
So back to Michael Perrine, who has an avid following on his IG page @everydaydetox. I am extremely grateful for Mike help and generous sharing of his vast knowledge. I wanted to be the best colon cleansing therapist to serve my clients and Mike Perrine helps get me there. I also consulted and learned from Fred Bisci, PhD, renowned lifestyle and Wellness Coach, and he is still going strong in his 90’s! He is a huge advocate of colonics and has a Gravity Colonic set up in his own home!
I applied what I was learning and had profound changes in my own health and well-being. My skin glowed, the extra weight I had accumulated disappeared effortlessly, and my vitality increased by leaps and bounds.
It was a wonderful 8 years serving my Connecticut community, and in that time had the pleasure of training several therapists who were part of my clinic. Towards the end of the eight years, I made the decision to move back to the west coast and passed the torch on to a beloved client who purchased the business.
I moved to Portland, Oregon, and within a few months of living there, my passion for health and serving others fired up again. I opened up a second Gravity Colonic space, and it was a joy to be serving the PDX community there. It was during my time in Portland that I met my soul mate and decided to give away virtually all of my possessions and explore the minimalist lifestyle, living in an Airstream and traveling around the USA for 18 months. I was blessed to sell the Portland business to a beloved client.
Fast forward to now. I took time to learn new skill sets. In the last year I became devoted to my spiritual development, and deepened my inner meditation work, learning about myself and my unconscious behaviors. I took this time to nurture and devote myself to a daily Sadhana - loosely translated as a spiritual practice - that incorporates Yoga, Pranayama (breath work) and meditation. I consider this the stabilizing force in my life, and have come to recognize that in order to experience peace in the outside world, one must first cultivate peace within.
The idea of opening up a third Woods Gravity Colonic center, this time in L.A., started to percolate and take root in my mind.
As you may have gathered by now, I am super passionate about colon cleansing and helping people! Gravity Colonics go beyond the physical and I could even call them a mystical experience. They make me feel euphoric and are an integral part of my life. I call them the ultimate beauty and mental health treatment, as they help tighten our skin, improve mental clarity and boost our immune system.
I like to say that before you see your psychotherapist, get a gravity colonic - you may not need a therapist! The clarity and well-being you can experience after a gravity colonic has to be experienced to be believed.
Interesting Facts:
In 1500 B.C., an ancient Egyptian medical document called “Ebers Papyrus” described the many benefits of colon cleansing. Cleansing the colon with water is also an ancient yogic technique, and is considered an important shatkarma - cleansing practice -to be done regularly. These are considered some of the most advanced cultures in our history, and they intuitively knew that Colon cleansing was important. Our body is an instrument, how it feels affects how we relate to the world. Back in 1500 BC, the practice of cleansing the colon was administered in a river by using a hollow reed to take water into the rectum.
Thankfully, we now have progressed and now use gravity fed filtered water in a tank, and a more comfortable instrument.
So, it seems clear that human beings have been doing some form of gravity fed colon cleansing for thousands of years.
With our busy lives and eating for convenience rather than for “health”, Colonics are more vital than ever. If I am stressed, I help my whole system by getting a Woods Gravity Colonic Hydrotherapy treatment, because stress often affects our guts first. If I eat something that didn’t quite agree with me, I definitely plan a colonic as soon as possible, to reach that state of equilibrium.
In my spare time, I love to cook and share my food! I really enjoy creating comfort foods that are easy on the gut. As a previously licensed Holistic Aesthetician, I also like to get creative and make my own skin and body care products. I love to practice Yoga asana, breath work and meditation, and greatly enjoy walking, hiking and biking, and am also learning to ride a skateboard. I love spending time outdoors. :-)
Born in Barcelona, I speak three languages: English, Spanish and Catalan.
I consider myself a student of life and love to learn.
